100-Household Elder Shot Dead by So-Called PDF Terrorist Group in Pyawbwe Township of Mandalay Region

     In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.

     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 15 November 2025 at 6:00 AM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Taung Kyaung Village, Pyawbwe Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel arrived at the scene for further investigation, the victim was identified as U Thaung Win (57 years old), a 100-household elder and a resident of the village. While the victim was farming in a plantation field about one mile west of the village, five so-called PDF terrorists arriving by five motorcycles and abducted him, accusing him of being a “Decoy”. The terrorists then took him to the village main road, where they opened fire on him. As a result, U Thaung Win died on the spot, it is reported.

     Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
