Innocent Civilian Injured in Improvised Rocket Attack by KNU and So-Called PDF Terrorists in Thandaunggyi Township of Kayin State

   Terrorists are ruthlessly carrying out abductions, killings and armed attacks, using both heavy and small weapons, improvised rocket attacks on wards and villages, as well as conducting drone strikes, all with the intent to harm civilians and instill fear among the public.

   Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 23 January 2026 at 11:00 AM, a report stated that a woman with shrapnel injuries was admitted to No. (15) Military Hospital (100-bedded) in Thandaunggyi Township of Kayin State. When security personnel arrived at the hospital for further investigation, the victim was identified as Daw Naw Ba Yi Phaw (34 years old), a resident of No. 3 Ward in Thandaunggyi Township. According to the investigation, at about 9:30 PM on 22 January 2026, while the victim was at her house, an improvised rocket fired by a combined group of KNU and so-called PDF terrorists exploded nearby, resulting in her injuries, it is reported.

   According to the above-mentioned case, local residents are condemning and protesting against the indiscriminate firing of heavy weapons, small arms, improvised rockets and drone attacks by dropping bombs on wards and villages. In response, security personnel, in collaboration with local residents, are intensifying security measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the incident, it is reported.
