In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views 'anyone with differing views is an enemy' are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are civil servants, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of 'spies, informants or decoys'. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 22 May, 2024 at 2:00 PM, a report stated that a man was killed and two others were injured by gunfire in Southern Ward, Kyaikto Township, Mon State. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that while a 100-household elder, U Ohn Myint (64 years old) U Zaw Zaw (53 years old), both residents of the ward, and U Nay Lin (48 years old) from Northern Ward, were at the “7 Mark” tea shop in Southern Ward, a KNU member who support terrorism and a so-called PDF terrorist arrived by motorcycle, opened fire, and then fled. Consequently, U Ohn Myint died on the spot, while U Zaw Zaw and U Nay Lin sustained gunshot injuries. The deceased and injured were transported to Kyaikto Township Public Hospital for examination and medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, on 23 May  at 7:00 AM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire in In Pin Hla Village, Thegon Township, Bago Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the Village Administrator U Myo Tun (55 years old), who lived in the village, was returning home on his motorcycle from the market located west of the village. When he arrived on the main road of the village, two so-called PDF terrorists who had followed him on a motorcycle opened fire on him. Consequently, U Myo Tun died on the spot from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Similarly, at 9:25 AM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire in Zoat Thot Village, Bilin Township, Mon State. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that U Thet Lwin Oo (46 years old), who lived in the village, was returning home by motorcycle from the Basic Education High School in the village. When he approached the Circuit Hospital, two so-called PDF terrorists who had followed him on a motorcycle opened fire on him. Consequently, U Thet Lwin Oo died on the spot from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and assassinations of administrative officials and civilian in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
