Monk Injured in Heavy Weapon Attack by So-Called PDF Terrorists in Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region

     Terrorists are ruthlessly carrying out abductions, killings and armed attacks, using both heavy and small weapons, improvised rocket attacks on wards and villages, as well as conducting drone strikes, all with the intent to harm civilians and instill fear among the public.

     Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 4 February 2026 at 12:00 PM, a report stated that a monk with shrapnel injuries was admitted to Dawei District Public Hospital in Tanintharyi Region. When security personnel arrived at the hospital for further investigation, the victim was identified as a monk Pyin Nyar (46 years old), who has been in monkhood for three years at the Chan Myae Monastery in Hein Nar Village in Dawei Township. According to the investigation, at 10:00 AM, on the same day, so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy weapons into the village. One of the shells exploded within the monastery compound, resulting in his injuries, it is reported.

     According to the above-mentioned case, local residents are condemning and protesting against the indiscriminate firing of heavy weapons, small arms, improvised rockets and drone attacks by dropping bombs on wards and villages. In response, security personnel, in collaboration with local residents, are intensifying security measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the incident, it is reported.
