Illegal timbers, raw chemicals, consumer goods, motor craft and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.

Under the management of the Magway Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, a combined team made inspections on 8 August. Officials nabbed a total of 52.9900 tonnes of illegal charcoal worth K95,382 in Thetkekyin village of Taungdwingyi township, a total of 26.9254 tonnes of illegal sawn teak worth K17,770,764 at the 159/1 Milepost on the Pathein-Monywa Road in Kanma township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.

Similarly, officals confiscated an unregistered Daihatsu Hijet car (approximately K3.5 million) at the Ayeyawady Bridge (Pakokku) combined checkpoint in Pakokku township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law. In addition, 10 wooden motorboats and pebble production equipment worth K60,500,000 were caught in the Ayeyawady River in Minhla township and the action was taken under the Water Resources and River Law.

An on-duty team made in spections under the management of the Customs Department at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint.

They seized an unregistered Toyota Mark II car (approximately K11 million) and an unregistered Mazda Demio car (approximately K9 million) at the 98/4 milepost on Yangon-Myawady Road. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

On 9 August, an on-duty team at the Airport warehouse of Yangon International Airport confiscated a total of 4,000 kilogrammes of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose worth K59,422,000 that arrived over 60 days before getting an approved licence. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

Similarly, the container terminal of Thilawa International Port impounded a total of 15,503.5 kilogrammes of packing materials worth K31,549,622 which exceeded the Import Declaration (ID). The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

A total of 1.2960 tonnes of illegal teak doors and teak door parts worth K855,360 from an Alphard car (approximately K10 million) were captured in Htantabin township of Yangon Region and the action was taken under the Forest Law.

Afterwards, a combined inspection team made unexpectedly inspections on Thingunnyinaung Road and captured K23,716,800 worth of consumer goods without official documents from an unregistered Toyota Voxy car (approximately K2 million) and a Canter car (approximately K12 million) heading from Myawady to Hpa-an township. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

On 10 August, a team led by Myanmar Police Force seized an unregistered Noah car (approximately K1.5 million) at the entry gate of Khin-U Township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.

Therefore, 17 arrests estimated at K360,830,360 were made on three consecutive days from 8 to 10 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
