MOFA calls in Ambassador of Bangladesh for commencement of repatriation process, transfer of detained Myanmar policeman

U Soe Han, Director-General of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar called in H. E. Mr. Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, the Director-General discussed with the Ambassador on matters pertaining to early commencement of repatriation process for displaced persons in line with the bilateral arrangements, and proposed to commence the 4th Joint Working Group (JWG) Meeting on the Repatriation of Displaced Myanmar Residents from Bangladesh in the second half of April 2019 in Nay Pyi Taw. The Director-General also urged the Ambassador to transfer as early as possible of Myanmar Border Guard Police Aung Bo Bo Thein, recently apprehended by the Bangladeshi authorities in the same precedent as the Myanmar side transferred back one member of the Border Guard Bangladesh, who intruded into the Myanmar territory in June 2015, within 8 days via the Flag Meeting of the two Border Guards.
The Bangladeshi Ambassador responded that Bangladesh will not charge against the Myanmar Border Guard Police Aung Bo Bo Thein and he will be transferred back to Myanmar after the completion of the internal formalities of Bangladesh.
