Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Pays Homage to Ancient Pagodas in Bago, and Inspects Maintenance of Kanbawzathadi Palace

The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, accompanied by entourage, paid homage to ancient pagodas in Bago of Bago Region on 22 May.
First, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and party paid homage to the historic Kyaikpyinnyaya Pagoda aging more than 1,000 years, the Sutaungpyae tooth relic Mahazedi Pagoda, the Shwethalyaung’s reclining Buddha image also called Shinpin Thalyaung, and the Shwemawdaw Pagoda, where they offered flowers, water and oil light. Then, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and wife donated cash for all-round renovation of the respective pagodas, and the Senior General instructed the officials to systematically calculate renovation tasks for long-term endurance and signed the guests’ book of the pagoda.
The SAC Chairman Prime Minister and party proceeded to the history museum of Shwemawdaw Pagoda, and observed the ancient Buddha images, ornaments and utensils displayed at the museum. Then, the Senior General gave guidance that as ancient objects show history, it is necessary to systematically maintain them.
Continuously, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and wife, and party arrived at Kanbawzathadi Palace, and inspected round the teak posts excavated from the place of the ground tier-roofed hall, maintenance of the palace, royal equipment used by ancient kings in the palace museum, ancient Buddha images and ancient objects displayed in Hanthawady archaeological museum, and display of Bhamayathana Throne hall where the officials explained about relevant matters.
After hearing the explanations, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister stressed the need to promptly maintain the Kanbawzathadi Palace, and it is necessary to keep religious objects without harming the original style. Ancient objects must be displayed in accord with modern age for convenient observation by visitors. The chariot of King Bayintnaung must be renovated to its original size. The palace area must be beautified and officials need to strive for re-excavation of ancient Hanthawady Palace. Afterwards, the Senior General signed the visitors’ book of the palace.
