Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win makes inspection tour to Mandalay

UNION Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win made inspection tours to hospitals in Mandalay Region, Mandalay University of Medicine, Public Health Laboratory and the Sub-Division of the Food and Drugs Administration-Mandalay on 28 and 29 April.
On 28 April, the Union Minister arrived at the Meiktila General Hospital in the afternoon and also met the hospital staff. He instructed the immediate comprehensive implementation of hospital activities and prevention of COVID-19 disease.
During his tour to Mandalay Region, the Union Minister met the Mandalay Administration Council and its members, central-level medical superintendents, medical specialists and professors on 29 April. He stressed the need to prepare for the COVID-19 prevention immediately, abide by the rules and the employee codes of conduct, professionally provide health care service to people regardless of wealth, religion, race or enemy, to call those who are absent from work for various reasons.
At the meeting with rectors and professors, and officials from the medical universities in Mandalay, he discussed the resumption of medical studies and allowing the current postgraduate students in order to take the exam only if they have at least 90% of class time as per the rules and regulations of the course.
The Union Minister also inspected the Central Women’s Hospital-Mandalay. During the inspection, he said the vaccination programmes of the babies are underway, adding that the government-funded the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit-NICU. As it is not available to newborns, the medical equipment maintenance work is carried out, and professional staffs are ordered to return to work as soon as possible. Afterwards, he met the officials at the Food and Drugs Administration Sub-Division and the Public Health Laboratory in the evening.
The Union Minister and party arrived at the Hospital in TadaU Township and inspected the hospital’s operation. Under the leadership of the medical superintendent, the hospital is providing regular health care services despite the departure of the assistant doctors. The hospital is also conducting COVID-19 vaccination, and a total of 5,261 people were vaccinated as of today.
